Perimenopause and Menopause

Creating a more inclusive and open environment for women navigating perimenopause and menopause is crucial to crushing the stigma that women should endure it silently rather than acknowledge and address the issues and symptoms that accompany it. Gratefully, there has been a growing movement towards greater awareness for the physical, emotional and cultural pieces that coexist with these transitions, and At Peace Therapy is proud to be a part of that. We are grateful to support an open dialogue around what you’re experiencing, while acknowledging that individual experiences of perimenopause and menopause can vary widely.

What might our work together entail?

  • Exploration of physical changes such as in cognitive functioning, sleep disturbances and hormonal fluctuations.

  • Allowing space to share feelings around shifts in sexuality and body composition in addition to encouraging acceptance of body changes and fostering body positivity.

  • Opening discussions around cultural attitudes around menopause including looking at generational and social messages around menopause.

  • Identifying and talking about barriers to care for menopause including awareness around medical paternalism, misconceptions and misinformation.

  • Helping women navigate the grief process around aspects of their former selves while assisting in the growth of new passions and facets of their identity.
