Depression

Feelings of depression can impact how we see ourselves and leave us with a deep sense of “badness,” failure and never feeling good enough. Depression can feel heavy and can leave us feeling hopeless—sometimes to the point where being alive feels too hard. Depression can make it very difficult to take care of ourselves, others and our surroundings. While not everyone experiences depression in the same way, if you experience some of the following symptoms, it may mean you are feeling depressed:

  • Feelings of hopelessness

  • Depressed mood

  • Diminished interest in activities and relationships

  • Significant weight change (gain or loss)

  • Too much or too little sleep

  • Fatigue or low energy

  • Feelings of worthlessness or guilt

  • Diminished concentration

  • Recurrent thoughts of death or suicide
