My approach
I believe therapy should be a place where you can show up as your authentic self—without judgment or the expectation that you have everything figured out. My approach is grounded in connection, curiosity, and collaboration. I view therapy as a shared journey, and I strive to be a fellow traveler alongside my clients as they navigate life's challenges, transitions, and opportunities for growth.
I bring compassion, humor, and honesty into the therapy room. While I aim to create a supportive environment, I also believe growth often requires us to examine the patterns, beliefs, and behaviors that may be keeping us stuck. At times, I may challenge you to consider new perspectives, always with the goal of helping you better understand yourself and create meaningful change.
My work is highly person-centered and influenced by existential therapy. Many of us find ourselves asking important questions throughout our lives: Who am I? What gives my life meaning? Am I living in alignment with my values? I enjoy helping clients explore these questions and develop a deeper understanding of their identity, purpose, and what truly matters to them.
Along with existential and person-centered approaches, I incorporate practical tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based practices. I believe meaningful change happens incrementally and requires patience, self-awareness, and a willingness to do the work. Ultimately, my goal is to help clients better understand themselves, embrace their authentic identity, and create a life that feels aligned with who they truly are.
Areas of focus
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, identity concerns, relationship challenges, and questions related to purpose, meaning, and career fulfillment.
I have a particular interest and experience working with men, especially middle-aged men who may be navigating career changes, workplace stress, relationship challenges, emotional isolation, or questions about identity and fulfillment. Through my work as a therapist, I have supported clients struggling with the uncertainty that often accompanies major life transitions, including changes in career, relationships, and personal identity. Many men find themselves reaching a point where the life they have built no longer feels aligned with who they are or what they want moving forward. Others may be balancing professional success with meaningful relationships, personal well-being, and a deeper sense of purpose. I enjoy helping clients explore these challenges, reexamine long-held definitions of success, and make intentional choices that support a more authentic and fulfilling life.
In addition to my clinical experience, I spent more than fifteen years working in the corporate world and understand firsthand the pressures, expectations, and demands that careers can place on our relationships, self-worth, and sense of identity. Whether a client is considering a career transition, navigating changes in a marriage or partnership, experiencing burnout, or questioning what they want from the next chapter of life, I strive to create a space where they can openly explore their experiences, emotions, and goals without judgment.
A little about me
Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than fifteen years working in marketing analytics in the corporate world. With an educational background in mathematics and statistics, I developed strong analytical and problem-solving skills that continue to inform my work today. While people are far more complex than numbers, I enjoy helping clients recognize patterns in their lives, gain insight into their experiences, and create meaningful change.
My own experience in therapy played a significant role in my decision to become a therapist. Through that journey, I experienced firsthand the power of connection, self-reflection, and personal growth. That experience inspired me to pursue this profession and continues to shape the way I work with clients today.
I received my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School and am currently working toward licensure as a Professional Counselor in Illinois.
Originally from Indiana, I have called Chicago home for more than twenty years and enjoy taking advantage of everything the city has to offer. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, spending time with my two dogs, trying new restaurants, and unwinding with a good video game. I believe in maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle while still appreciating the experiences that make life enjoyable.
"The therapist’s task is not to create a new person, but to help free an existing person."
